About Geirangerfjord

Geirangerfjord is a 15-kilometer branch of the Storfjorden. It forms an S-shaped curve surrounded by steep rock walls. These mountains rise up to 1,700 meters above sea level. The water depth reaches 258 meters.

Waterfalls like the Seven Sisters drop directly into the deep blue water. Abandoned farms sit high on the cliffs. You can see these by taking a sightseeing cruise or the Hellesylt car ferry. Read more about Ferry Prices to plan your route.

The village of Geiranger sits at the end of the fjord. It has around 215 permanent residents. Above the village, the Dalsnibba Skywalk offers Europe's highest fjord view from a road at 1,500 meters.

I had a phenomenal time … weather was perfect … had plenty of time to get to the waterfall and back. I lucked out as a solo member of the group to have Peter, one of the tour guides in the kayak…. Great company, lots of laughter and fun!
